HOW IT ALL BEGAN
MealKraft started from a simple idea. What if we could bring healthy meals made with real and fresh ingredients straight to your doorstep. No more going to a fast food place right after your work out or coming home from a long day at work with no food in your fridge. What if you could have meals ready to eat in your fridge for your whole week without having to cook or clean? It could be as easy as putting it in your microwave and boom: dinner lunch and breakfast is served.

Sean Chai was a 24-year-old recent undergraduate from the University of Alberta. Like most undergrads, he didn’t know what he wanted to do with his degree in Economics but decided to work in the banking industry to begin his career. He realized very fast that this wasn’t the right path for him. With over ten years of experience in the hospitality industry, his love for fitness, food, and hospitality led him to the idea of meal prep in Edmonton. Joined by Greg Curran, his partner, they dove into a competitive industry with little to-no-experience but eager to learn.

The first year of business was a rollercoaster of emotions both exciting and terrifying. The team moved from kitchen to kitchen trying to find the best one for them and their budget. MealKraft cooked out of a small café for the first couple years while bouncing between different restaurants and cafeterias. The first couple weeks, the only people who ordered were friends and families. It was an exciting moment when they get their first actual customer.

Fast-forward, MealKraft is focused on real ingredients, healthy and delicious meals delivered straight to your door. Our goal has always been to keep the meals simple yet fresh with the highest quality of ingredients. We source from farms in the city and focus on educating people on the importance of eating healthy. We want our customers to know how we started and all the lessons we’ve learned to constantly improve our service to them.
